Right Hand Corner Sofas

Right hand corner sofa: find the layout that suits your living room

A right hand corner sofa has its chaise or corner section on the right when you face the sofa from the front, as shown on our product pages. The layout matters as much as the fabric, because it decides how the sofa sits against your walls. Our right hand corner sofas include linen, chenille, boucle, velvet, jumbo cord and air leather designs.

Most models seat up to five people, and several come with a footstool. You can furnish the rest of the room with furniture for every part of the home. Each product page states the chaise side clearly before you order.

What is a right hand corner sofa?

The question what is a right hand corner sofa has a simple answer. Stand in front of the sofa and face it, as in the product images. If the long section sits on your right, it is a right hand corner sofa.

You will also see the term right hand facing corner sofa, or RHF, on product pages and delivery notes. Some listings put the words the other way round: corner sofa, right hand facing. All these names describe the same layout. The Alcott pages confirm it: the chaise sits on the right-hand side when facing the sofa.

A frequent ordering error is to picture the sofa from the wall behind it. Seen from that side, the layout looks reversed. Always check the chaise position when facing the sofa from the front, as shown on the product page.

Left hand corner sofa vs right hand: which one fits your room?

Choosing between a left hand vs right hand corner sofa depends on the room's fixed features. Mark the door, the window, the radiator and the television on a quick sketch. The chaise should follow a wall without crossing a walkway.

Take a living room where the door sits on the left side of the sofa wall and the window on the right. A corner sofa with a right hand chaise keeps the long section along the window and the entrance open. If your room is the mirror image, our left hand corner sofa models follow the same designs.

Measure both walls and the chaise depth before you buy. Check the width of doors and stairwells for delivery day too. If you still cannot decide, you can compare every layout in our full corner sofa range.

Fabrics, colours and features

Each right hand corner sofa family comes in several finishes. For family rooms, a grey right hand corner sofa is an easy colour to live with. Options include the Tristan in grey chenille, the Cassidy in grey linen and the Alcott in dark grey jumbo cord or linen.

For a stronger contrast, a black right hand corner sofa works well against pale walls. The Evelyn comes in black velvet, and the Alcott comes in black jumbo cord. The Evelyn also comes in navy velvet for a deeper tone.

Lighter shades suit smaller rooms. A beige right hand corner sofa is available in the Cassidy linen, the Evelyn boucle and the Tristan chenille. For a cream right hand corner sofa, look at the Cassidy, the Alcott in cream linen or the Benedict in cream chenille.

One model adds sleeping space. The Scarlett is a right hand corner sofa bed in grey air leather with a pull-out bed, adjustable headrests, storage and footstools. It suits a lounge that doubles as a guest room.

Sizes, prices and finance

A large right hand corner sofa such as the Evelyn, Tristan, Cassidy or Alcott seats up to five people. The Norton in charcoal linen seats four. That makes it the closest match if you need a small right hand corner sofa.

Prices vary by fabric and by footstool option. If you are waiting for a right hand corner sofa sale, check the collection regularly, as offers change through the year. Compare the full price of each version rather than the headline discount.

Frequently asked questions

Is a right hand sofa the same as a right arm facing sofa?

Both terms describe the side of the chaise when you face the sofa from the front. Retailers use slightly different wording, so always check the images on the product page. On our pages, the description states the side in words.

Can I add a footstool later?

Some designs, such as the Alcott, Tristan and Norton, are sold with or without a footstool. Ordering the bundle at the start keeps the fabric and colour consistent.

Which fabric suits a home with pets?

The Scarlett product page describes its air leather as easy to clean, which helps with paw marks. Boucle has a looped surface that claws can catch, so it suits homes without pets better.

Can a corner sofa double as a guest bed?

Yes, if it includes a sleeping mechanism. The Scarlett has a pull-out bed. For more choice, browse every corner sofa bed in our range.

How do I check the layout before ordering?

Picture the finished sofa in place and face it from the front. Note which side needs the chaise from that viewpoint and compare it with the product images. Then pick the matching right hand corner sofa or left hand version.
